Veterans Therapy Haven™ Approach:

The Veterans Therapy Haven™ will offer a program of therapeutic intervention for specifically two populations, Veterans of our military and first responders. These populations often avoid the mental health system, yet are at a greater risk for developing serious mental health challenges without appropriate intervention.
We will offer services to community partners who provide care to these populations and our services will be free of charge to our veterans. There is not a similar program of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) specifically catering to our veteran base within 1000 miles of our facility in the Oklahoma area, eventually we will grow nationwide, given the funding.
EAP has the potential to occur in an individual or group setting of up to ten participants. Each session will consist of a licensed clinician, equine specialist and horse(s) specifically selected for their capacity to work with individuals. The activities will promote quiet bonding with the horses providing the veteran the benefits of relaxation and positive mood changes that the animals offer when working side by side with them.

Veterans Therapy Haven™ will offer weekly equine assisted therapy sessions and while aiming to run group sessions several times per week once the program is established. We anticipate the Veterans and first responders will each be provided with up to two sessions per week.
In addition to individual and group therapy we will offer bereavement workshops for spouses and family members of fallen heroes twice a month. A summer camp will be created to offer bereaved children the opportunity for EAP, as well as environmental healing gained by time spent on a working ranch.
To meet the needs of cooperate organizations, quarterly outreach workshops will be offered to educate employers of the therapy being provided at the Veterans Therapy Haven™ in addition to the effective leadership techniques that are most helpful to veterans and first responders with previous or current prolonged exposure to trauma.
